Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is treatment designed specifically to help our patients return to function after a major cardiac surgery or event. Treatment emphasizes progressive aerobic conditioning, strengthening of specific muscle groups to increase activity tolerance, patient education on how to monitor heart rate/blood pressure, suggestions for dietary modifications and stress management techniques. Each session is 1:1 supervised care with continuous monitoring of vital signs for safe return to activity.

Common Diagnoses for Therapy

  • Post-heart attack or stroke
  • Heart conditions (i.e. coronary artery disease, angina, heart failure)
  • Post-surgical (i.e. valve replacement, stent placement, coronary bypass, pacemaker/ICD, etc.)

Treatment Strategies

  • Aerobic exercise prescription tailored to desired exercise type (walking, biking, swimming…)
  • Targeted strength training
  • Education for post-operative precautions
  • Postural Training
  • Dietary Education
  • Breathing or Stress Management Training
  • I've benefited in so many ways: improved my functionality, learned to re-educate my muscles "slowly", and continued to maintain a pro-active attitude by taking control of my healing.

  • I appreciate, very much, that you thoroughly explained the purpose of the exercises - it is more meaningful when doing the exercise, to know its purpose.
